In this episode Phil continues his look at the Pharisees and their attitude to Jesus. Jesus shows them that their problem comes from within, not from outside of them. They are in need of a new heart. This is a problem for both Christian believers and non-Christians alike. Both need God to change them on the inside.

In this episode Phil looks at the Pharisees and their attitude to Jesus. They were dedicated to avoiding uncleanness, but they were hypocrites and were more committed to human traditions rather than God's commands. How do human traditions cancel out God's law? God calls us to true worship, and we need to see the difference between Scripture and tradition. Jesus hates it when we pretend, and he hates it when we let go of God's commands.

Derek French finishes a survey of 1 John with Roger Prime, looking at the basis of Christian assurance, the unpardonable sin, and the nature of adoption. 

Andrew Cook chats with Steve Kneale about how Matt. 7;1 is misused to criticise Christians for taking any ethical stand. Does Jesus tell us not to judge, or to use a right judgement? How does taking the plank out of our own eye relate to taking the speck out of our brother's eye? The wider context of Matt. 7 is how to deal with hypocrisy among those who profess faith. We judge sin knowing that we ourselves are sinners.

A trip back into the GBM archives. In 2009 Jim Sayers traveled to Bulgaria for a pastors' conference in the resort town of Velingrad. , 20 years after Communism had collapsed. Young people never knew Communism, yet it shaped the lives of their culture and was a daily reality for their parents. Jim chatted to Kristu Kulichev who was imprisoned for his faith, and Charlie Hadjiev who was Director of IFES Bulgaria at the time, as well as those who grew up under Communism.

Derek French and Roger Prime look at the main purpose of John's first letter, to give Christians true assurance. Then Andrew Cook talks to Steve Kneale about the abuse of Scripture, looking at Psalm 37v4 and asking whether God will give us just whatever we want. A true understanding of the verse looks at the whole context of the psalm, how it was read in OT Israel, and what it means for a Christian to trust in the Lord and delight in him.

Across the Nations - Annual Mission Day Ministry - Theo Donner

GBM's main event each year is our Annual Mission Day, which this year took place in London. Missionaries give presentations across the day, and some more video content can be found on our website. The day finishes with ministry from God's Word, which this year was brought by Theo Donner, who teaches at the Seminario Biblico de Colombia in Medellin.

Graham and sally Jones work in Western Kenya, serving alongside local churches where they provide training and mentoring for local pastors. In this podcast they discuss the challenges of life on the ground in rapidly multiplying local churches. Sally explains a new project to get more women reading the Bible, and Graham explains a recent discussion on how Christians deal with traditional beliefs about the spirit world.
