In this episode Phil looks at the Pharisees and their attitude to Jesus. They were dedicated to avoiding uncleanness, but they were hypocrites and were more committed to human traditions rather than God's commands. How do human traditions cancel out God's law? God calls us to true worship, and we need to see the difference between Scripture and tradition. Jesus hates it when we pretend, and he hates it when we let go of God's commands.

Andrew Cook chats with Steve Kneale about how Matt. 7;1 is misused to criticise Christians for taking any ethical stand. Does Jesus tell us not to judge, or to use a right judgement? How does taking the plank out of our own eye relate to taking the speck out of our brother's eye? The wider context of Matt. 7 is how to deal with hypocrisy among those who profess faith. We judge sin knowing that we ourselves are sinners.

A trip back into the GBM archives. In 2009 Jim Sayers traveled to Bulgaria for a pastors' conference in the resort town of Velingrad. , 20 years after Communism had collapsed. Young people never knew Communism, yet it shaped the lives of their culture and was a daily reality for their parents. Jim chatted to Kristu Kulichev who was imprisoned for his faith, and Charlie Hadjiev who was Director of IFES Bulgaria at the time, as well as those who grew up under Communism.

A true understanding of the verse looks at the whole context of the psalm, how it was read in OT Israel, and what it means for a Christian to trust in the Lord and delight in him.
