Mark’s gospel takes a turn to show the reasons why Jesus came. Here, Jesus refers to himself as the powerful Son of Man figure from Daniel 7 yet he suffers. The latter is true of Christ’s followers, it is the way of the cross.

In the first eight chapters of his gospel Mark has focussed on who Jesus is. This now reaches its climax as Peter finally sees that Jesus is the Christ.

Across the Nations - Daniel Caballero in Ireland and Peru

What is it like to be a Peruvian serving in Ireland? Daniel Caballero comes from Lima, and he and his wife Ellie have moved to Cork in the South West of Ireland. Daniel is involved with a group of Irish Baptist churches in the area, whose 'Cork Kerry' Project has planted five new churches in the last twelve years. Daniel talks about the opportunities for the gospel in Ireland. He also explains his literature and training ministry in Peru, Theologia para Vivir. Reformed churches are growing fast in Latin America, but this brings the danger of swinging to the extremes of hypercalvinism. Daniel explains how their book translation and publishing ministry is helping to correct such a drift.

Disease and pain are sad. Sadder still is when people will not believe in Christ. In this talk, A miracle with a message, Phil takes us through the healing of a man with no hearing or speech. The man is then able to tell others about Jesus. How wonderful!
